Does anyone know if it is possible to set explorer windows to open showing Folders in the Explorer bar instead of File and Folder Tasks?

    Thanks

Not sure what you mean, but here's a stab at an answer.
Choose, under tools > folder options classic view.

If you want to make explorer open in a specific folder, see this page. For example, you can edit the target line in properties view of explorer.exe to change the default opening folder, like
    Code:
    %windir%\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,/root, My Computer
Test it by winkey-e (used like shift-e) Of course the line above has some redundancy to show that you can combine arguments. :)
