Thanks for the clarification; was worried :D. I too have OSs on both c: and d: so install the programs I can in e:\Program files\. Roxio, OEM ver., is one that doesn't give the option and always installs on the c: partition, but on my box it's on c: with win2k and xp's on d: and Roxio is installed in XP as well and it found itself on c: and just overwrote the installation for XP, never giving me a choice in the matter. :(

Roxio needs custom option and will then install anywhere; just put it on another box. Miss-spoke. :D

I have made a new post about my reinstall of XP, "Glitches with XP reinstall" I'll come back to this thread later if updating Installer 3.1 goes wrong.

    Thanks

I have installed XP1a and was able to get all the updates to load, so I am "guessing" the problems I had with Windows Installer 3.1 are over, as I was able to load and update more below...

I also installed SP2 and that went fine. I reinstalled Norton2004 and that has been updated a few times and is fine, but now I need to buy it again or find my key to make it legal..I have 15 days.

    Thanks for your help:)
