I have managed to restart a Domain Controller after a RAID failure, but only after several attempts a reconstructing the registry.

it will only let me start it in Directory Restore Mode, but I have no System State backup to restore it with.

Is there any way I can replicate AD with a second DC we have running on our system.

    Thanks

If you had 2 DCs, then format the one that had the RAID problem and start over. Transfer all FSMO roles to the 2nd box first. When you DCPROMO the box then it will replicate everything over from the other DC.

Thanks for the reply. I couldnt get the server back online to run DCPROMO, either bad disks or RAID controller. Had to build a new machine and use ntdsutil to wipe the old one from the directory.

As I had been planning to rebuild this machine anyway (already new about the bad disks, and was planning to demote, but the failed before I got the chance), I had already moved the FSMO roles to another DC, so that wasn't too bad.
