I have Outlook with many contacts. But I don't have anything in the address book. I know how to add a contact but I can find nothing about creating the address book from the contact folder (perhaps because the assumption seems to be that if you have contacts you will have an address book!). Any ideas?

I found the following on this page, which might be what you're looking for:

To add any folder containing Contact items to the Outlook Address Book:

    1. Right-click the folder, choose Properties from the pop-up menu, and switch to the Outlook Address Book tab.
    2. Check the box for Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book.
    3. You can enter a new Name of the address book to make it easier to distinguish from other Contacts folders. The name change affects only the address book display, not the actual name of the folder.
    4. Click OK.

I might have done this backwards but here goes. I exported the Outlook Contacts as a Contacts.CVS into a folder then went to the windows address book and File/Import/ to other Address book, chose text file(comma separated values) .
I've been able to import the Contacts to everything using .cvs backup. I've never tried just importing it directly from Outlook.

If it worked, that's all that counts. If you don't tell anybody you weren't sure it would work, they'll think you're a genius! At least, that's what I do. :D
