Have you tried, in windows explorer, tools > folder options > view tab > and, after checking or unchecking various items in the list and clicking apply, go up to "apply to all folders" and click it before closing the window?

By default Windows only saves about 400 folder views. So if you have a lot more folders, it may not remember them all. To get round this, you can change the size of the BagMRU Size in the registry, in the following keys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam

If you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can download a little file that will do this for you, from

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

Ckick on F and scroll down to folder views. There are some other fixes there as well, if this does not solve your problem.

Note: TweakUI has an option to change the BagMRU Size, but it does not work properly because of a bug (it creates a value 'Bag MRU Size' instead of 'BagMRU Size', which Windows can't use)

I have my BagMRU Size set to 8000 (decimal).
