Messenger 7.5 Problem

I am using MSN Messenger 7.5 with little to No problem however....

A little while ago I changed my main email address, I now log on using this address with no problems, however people in my contacts, are unable to see me from time to time as my email address changes back on their system. Some of these people have never used my old email address.

I have tried emailing MSN Support with no reply, any ideas?

Would you believe it, as soon as I posted here I recieved an email from MSN.

So here it is in case someone else has this problem:

Thank you for contacting MSN Messenger Technical Support. My name is Fressia, and I am pleased to assist you with this issue. I regret any inconvenience this has caused, and understand how important it is to keep in touch with your friends and family using MSN Messenger.

According to your email, you changed your email account, but when your contacts try to view you in MSN Messenger, your email address has reverted back to the old one, and therefore your contacts cannot see you as online.

Daryl, this issue is caused, when the new Passport Network e-mail address has not been synchronized with the ABCH servers.

The next steps to address this issue are outlined below for you. Please follow the instructions in the order they appear for best success:

- Save your MSN Messenger contact list:
1. Start MSN Messenger.
2. On the "Contacts" menu, click "Save Contact List. "
3. In the "Save Messenger Contact List" dialog box, click "Save," and then click "OK. "
4. Your contact list is saved in the "My Documents" folder as "Contact List for <your sign-in name>."

Note: The file has a .ctt file name extension.

- Update your Passport profile
1. Go to www.passport.net
2. Change the e-mail address (daryl@***.org.uk) associated to your account to your Passport account for another one (this will be just temporarily, you can use any e-mail address) and save the changes.
3. Change again the temporarily e-mail address for the one that you want to use (daryl@***.org.uk) and save the changes again.

Note: Please wait for a few hours to sign in to MSN Messenger to make sure that your Passport profile will be synchronized with your new e-mail address.

Daryl, if after following this steps your contacts appear offline, delete all your contacts and then add them again, here you will use the previous saved contact list.

1. In the main Messenger window, right-click a contact, click "Delete Contact," and then click "Yes. "
2. Repeat step b for all your contacts.
3. On the "Contacts" menu, click "Import Contacts from a File," and then click the contact list that you saved on your computer.
4 To import contacts from a saved file:
a. Start MSN Messenger by using the e-mail name of the account to which you want to import the contacts.
b. On the "Contacts" menu, click "Import Contacts from a Saved File. "
c. Locate the saved file, and then click "Open. "

Note: Contacts who were blocked when you saved the list will still be blocked when you import the list.
