I need some advice. What is the best internet browser to use. At the moment I am using IE6 and I have been told that is not up there on security. So I am asking for advice.

    I have Windows XP Pro.

Serafyn--This is a very common subject here. Suggest you run searches on Firefox and Opera. I do not think you will find any clear preference.
By choosing the right settings in IE Tools|Internet Options|Security and Privacy tabs, IE can be made as safe as the other browsers. One problem is that, because of its popularity, IE is the subject of more security attack schemes than other browsers. But that is changing as more people use the other browsers.

And....if you're been surfing the internet for a while and can live to talk about it, IE can't be all that bad....

If you wish more than individual opinions, look up a recent (Sept. 2005) Comsumer Reports Issue on web security for their recommendations based on a survey and expert opinions.

Yeah, I'd say IE is ok, just read a website about securing it - the default settings are ok though AFAIK. Firefox is what I use mostly, because I like it's features like tabs - and the fact it's not produced by Micro$oft... but that's more of a personal preference. The thing is though that some websites just won't work with Firefox, you have to use IE. That's the web developer's fault, but that's the way it is I'm afraid.

    FireFox

Depending on what you use it for, my choice is Firefox. I have both IE and Firefox but default to Firefox. Has tabbing which is awesome and many other features. Have not had any security issues with firefox either.
Only drawback on firefox so far is just some set up issues when certain sites won't open correctly but once thoses are taken care of all is well. :D
