Is it possible to change the screensaver that kicks in when nobody is logged on (when the active screen is the one waiting for someone to log on)?

I don't really know if that is a screen saver. Have you tried logging on as an Administrator and change it?

Well, the account I made for myself is an administrator account. I can change the screensaver for that account, and, if I go to "logoff ", and click on "switch users ", I get the [mostly] blue logon screen, but I'm still logged in. In that case the screensaver that kicks in is the one I set for my account. However, if I log off, and there are no other users logged on, the screensaver that kicks in is the one with a black background, and the windows "flag" kind of jumps around the screen. On my PC that is the screensaver called "Windows XP ".

Thanks for the info. I suspected it would have something to do with the registry. I checked out that link. Seems simple enough. Thanks again.

    Changing screen savers continued...

Will this work with 3rd party screen savers? I have the local weather radar as a screen saver. It has to use temp files to build up a profile of pictures to run thru a loop. But if this is changed correctly in the regedit, it still should work. Am I correct on this? Thanks for any I/O on this. Cleatus

Can't be specific on this - if your screen saver is a .scr file then maybe, but as you mention that it needs to use temp files to build a profile this may be a non starter as there is no user logged on. Just thinking out loud I'm afraid.

Export the registry string that has to be changed to a folder on your hard drive - it will make a .reg file. Then try altering the string in Regedit as instructed in the URL.

If it doesn't work out navigate to the .reg file of the original string that you saved and double click on it to merge it back into the registry, overwriting the change you made.

Let us know how it works out.

Check this out. { if I did it right that is )

I have been using it for years. It is great for changing the SS plus other usefull items. And it does sit down it the lower left corner of the screen.
