    Hi

Updating XP is an endless venture. Has anyone come accross a site that mirrors all the XP updates and patches in a convenient way (i.e. an FTP directory) so you can just download the latest ones or check every now and again for new ones, or some that you missed.

Keeping them all for an administrator's point of view and applying them all manually is brilliant:

    for %f in (*.exe) do start /w %f /q

Apply them all sequentially in order of issue (MSoft numbers them all as the come out - thank heavens)

This omits the need to auto-update and download - especially the 5 meg java issue ....

Let me know if anyone knows of such a site.
    Best regards

    Hi Arie,

This link just re-routes you to the usual Dynamic Update site and hardly allows you to save to updates to be saved to disc (especially updates you don't require for the machine you're using).

    Regards

Did you even try it? Using the link Arie provided, I downloaded and saved to disk the Critical Update - Feb. 10, 2002 which this machine did not need.

    reHi

Sorry the site does indeed allow you to download some of the critical Windows XP Updates. There are 54 Updates posted in total.

Please swing by http://www.jsiinc.com/subk/tip5300/rh5300.htm where you'll find links to some 175 updates and patches available from Microsoft up to 10 May 2002.

As you can see the Windows Update sites only touches at updates available. You can see why SP1 will fix some 2100 issues.

Was interresting to read about the new Thumbnail feature in explorer: It does not update the database when pictures are deleted, has them still available when you encrypted the picture contens, crash issues when files are locked ... I sometimes wonder if any thought even goes into developing software at MS. Removing thumbnails form a database after the file is deleted I accepted as basic.

Thanks for the link Arie, I hope someone gets them all together somewhere for easy download/sync.

    Sincerely
