I am getting this error when I boot up my computer and it is driving me crazy, it's running soooo slow now and it's hard to work on it. I found a download to use to correct the error 2 weeks ago, before vacation.. .burned it and tried to boot from the CD as told but I don't get an option to boot from CD. Can anyone help explain this to me on how to fix it? Much appreciated!

I BELIEVE it was on a site by Bay Wolf? I did this over 2 weeks ago before vacation so I cannot remember now (sorry!) but am willing to start over... the fan won't go off on this either, as well as running extremely slow!

    Thank you!

I guess your laptop does not have a floppy drive otherwise that would be the easiest route using the Dell URL I posted.

I don't know what burning software you are using, but in Nero 5.5 which I have on my laptop it is File > Burn Image. You should not simply burn the file to CD as you would any other data.

You need to ensure that your laptop is setup to boot from the CD drive - not familiar with Dells - I use an oldish HP and there is a message on the first screen re. pressing some key to change the boot order. Most likely your Dell is set up to boot from CD by default, followed by hard drive.

I used Nero to burn the file but there isn't an option to boot from CD that I can find. Does anyone else know how to change the boot order?

    Thanks!

Some computers display a message "Press any key to boot from CD" as the computer starts. If yours doesn't, you'll need to enter the BIOS. Look for a brief message "Press xx to enter setup" during startup. Typical keys are F8, Del, Esc, F1, F2, etc. Once in BIOS, look for the screen with a "Boot order" list and advance the CD drive to first place.

Save the setting and restart. After you get things working, don't forget to return to BIOS setup and reset the original boot order.
