I am currently using a pre-owned package temporarily. When I attempt to save on the CDR/RW, the message is displayed: You don't have access to the folder F:\ See your administrator for access to this folder. F being the drive I'm attempting to use.

Does "pre-owned package" mean you're using a used computer?

Is your user account an admin account?

Yes it is a used computer, but an individual, not a company, but he may have used it for business type transactions.

According to the " User Accounts" I am the administrator, with full access, nothing shown as a admin account.

The system was running on Windows '98, which I upgraded to XP

Do you have any burning software like Nero or Roxio?

I don't see any software by that name. The closest I can get to anything similar is Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4, but it's not loaded, only an Icon on the Desk top, and it's not available on the system.

That might be the problem there. When it speaks of admin rights it may be talking about the cd burner software. Do you still have contact with the previous user? Do they have the upload for the cd rom?

    Hello dawie,

Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 probably is the problem - doesn't run well if at all on XP.

If you do find any of it - get rid it and if you want burning software, get a version of either Roxio or Nero that's compatable with XP.

Go into the Device Manager > Cd rom > uninstall > re boot, XP will re install the rom on bootup.

As an FYI: XP can burn cd's on it's own, go into Help and Support and type burn into the search box. Its not pretty, but it works.

    Regards - Charles

You could try getting Nero Burn Rights. It might help fix your problems.
