Hi ... I have notice every now and then I would notice everything with the computer is tinier ,Its almost as if the screen resolution changes by itself , Iike now I have no idea what cause this , I went this morning to boot up the computer and notice this , Then as time goes by , I would notice that everything would be back to normal , Now when things do go tinier ? It just happens maybe once in every 3 or 4 months , I have always notices this but never thought anything about it until now, I feel like asking and see what I hear about it , Anyone have any opinion on this ? Thanks

I have also had this happen every so often.

Yes, it does appear as though the screen resolution gets changed.

Some applications, normally games, do adjust your resolution. Did you run any such game etc.? Any drivers update?

If it is a resolution problem, it will be with the graphics card/system (but don't discount that you need specific drivers or updated drivers for your monitor).

It may be a hardware "glitch ", but I would update or at least uninstall and reinstall the graphics drivers (have the graphics card's drivers available for the hardware wizard).

Windows may be selecting the wrong version of a graphics file when it loads(?).

Edit: Mmm!...it "fades" from one resolution to another. Apart from drivers, it may be a definite problem with the hardware. You would need to try another graphics card (although if it only happens every "blue moon ", it could still be a motherboard problem...an interesting problem...at least it would be for me :) )

But why is it random? Once in 3-4 months?

In Display Properties | Appearance Tab | Effects
under "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:" I selected ClearType and have also used Extra Large Fonts for a long time.
Several weeks ago I opened Microsoft Power Toys for Windows XP http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and downloaded and installed ClearType Tuner BUT thought I didn't need to use it as I had already selected Clear Type in Display Properties. A month ago I went to the Control Panel and opened Clear Type Tuning and quickly followed the instructions and since then the font in both Explorer and IE has been darker and much easier for me to read. I have read on message boards where some people thought this download only improved LCD monitors but other people said it also helped CRT monitors so guess everyone has to try for themselves.
Before I did this my fonts had a mind of their own and would somehow revert to a smaller size in both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer at times. However, my fonts have held their setting for the past month.
I feel like I have new glasses as I can see text on my monitor much better......
