Upgrading RAM on Intel 815e Chipset

    I wanna upgrade my RAM on Intel 815e Chipset mother board, P III 866 MHz. Currently I have 384 MB (Slots : 256, 128, none) RAM on my board. I want to upgrade this to (Slots : 512, 512, none). Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

    That motherboard will only accept 256MB memory modules in each slot maximum. You can put in a total of 768MB but it will only recognize 512MB. I don't know if there is a Bios update to enable the use of larger RAM.

    Yeah, the 815 only supports a max of 512mb of ram.

    You need SDRAM for PIII.

    Hi All,

    First of all I wud like to convey my thanks to all the friends for the prompt reply with a solution.

    Looks like I can have only a maximum of 512 MB RAM on my board as per ur reply. So I think I better replace my 128 MB slot stick with a 256 MB stick and later upgrade my system to P4.
