    Hi

I am experiencing problems with either office or XP. The problem is the follwing:

    I am running XP Sp2 - Office 2003 pro

I open word and it creates a transparent duplicate file beginning with ~filename, nothing strange here.

However it also creates a ~WR0001 .tmp file. This is not normal as none of my other office applications do this. Everytime I try and close the application, it crashes.

I am lost, I am not sure what to search on the net and contemplating a reinstall or repair of Office. I am continuosly losing work and time

    Any help

    Thanks

    Thanks Pete

    Hi Pete,

Thank you very much for the info. I am reading it at the moment and am trying to solve this annoyance. I was using word today and it seemed to affect only the one file ??? The other thing that surprised me is that neither my adware or antivirus piicked up on it.

I will let you know if I am able to fix it.

Thanks once again, I was completely lost as what to search for.

    It's probably an "autosave" file.

I have a doc on my desktop called Newip.doc.
When I open it, it creates a file called ~$newip.doc on my desktop and TWO files called ~dfdo6d.tmp & ~dfbae.tmp in my temp folder...Looks normal to me...

    I think it is ok

    Hi Pete and Steve,

I think after the tips handed to me by Pete it has gone back to normal.
I followed the instructions on one of the pages and it seems to be fine now. The thing I noticed that day was it was only acting funny with the one file. What I have done is put the Macros security feature the "very high" for the time being.
I may ina few days scale it down to what it was prior to this and see if anything changes.

Many thanks for helping me resolve this
