Hoping you can come up with something based on just this info. This was posted by a member in a bbs somewhere. Personally, I have no problem running WinRar and WinZip.
    Any guesses?

    Thanks,
    Charlie

    a shot in the dark...

Possibly Winrar has taken the file 'associations' that used to be connected to WinZip. Hard to say without more info.

charlie_c--You should be able to open both WinRAR and .zip files with this program
    http://www.7-zip.org/
WinZip will not open WinRAR files. But WinRAR should open both .zip and .rar files. (7-zip is free whereas WinRar must be purchased. On the other hand you cannot create RAR or .zip files with 7-zip--just open them.)
It is not clear what you mean by WinRAR "disables" Zip files.
What Mr. B says is hopefully the answer. Zip files have somehow become disassociated from any program that opens them .
To correct this, right click on any .zip file|Open With|highlight a program that opens zip files (like WinZip, WinRAR or 7-zip)|check the box at the bottom "Always use the selected program... "|OK. That should reassociate Zip files with a program that can open them.

Thanks Mr. B & Welshjim - should have gotten back sooner. Mr. B was right - he just needed to "associate" the file type in WinZip.
