I am looking for a program that will allow me to extract and list the names of Word documents within a folder/folders and put them into a database. Then I'd like to be able to sort according to various key words in the document titles, and then save/print the results. Any suggestions?

rudymill--In case no one comes up with a way to get the info into a data base, Karen's Directory Printer will allow you to create a text list of the contents of a folder.

You can program this application to provide as many layers of information as you want.

    Thanks

I did get a work around to generate a .txt file, but I have to use DOS to get there; this is much easier.

And once I had the .txt file, 10 minutes of searching in Excel gave me all the info I needed to sort to my heart's content. I'm all set.

    Thank you kindly.

rudymill--Do you mean Karen's Directory Printer is easier or the DOS program?
I often use a .bat file to generate a very simple text file of a directory's content.

    dir %1> "C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Desktop\jim.txt "

    cls

I put this in my SendTo folder
