I am trying to remove Office XP. I go to Add/Remove Programs, highlight Office XP, and click on Remove. A Windows Installer window opens up. After several seconds, it is replaced by another window, Configuring Office XP. The configuring process goes on for hours if I let it. During this time, the hard drive makes a rhythmic cadence sound like it is looking for a file it can't find. However, I am not prompted to insert a disk. In fact, I can't find the Office XP disk, so I hope it is not needed. How can I uninstall Office XP? Thanks.

samueld--Perhaps you need to run the Windows CleanUp Utility
    http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;290301
You will see if Office XP is one of the programs for which it offers to remove the Windows Installer configuration information . You then should be able to use Add/Remove.
