If your computer is setup with NTFS partitions, you can just use NTFS built in permissions (called ACL - Access Control List) to regulate who can do what.

    Here are the steps :

    a) First you have to disable 'Simple File Sharing' - Login as Administrator. Open My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options... -> View -> Advanced Setting. At the very bottom there would be a check box - 'Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)'. Just ignore this recommendation and uncheck it. Choose Apply and close all the dialog boxes.
    b) Again open My Computer - > right click on the partition/directory which you want to protect -> Sharing and Security. You would get a dialog box where you can set security, but please note that do NOT deny everything to everyone or you would be unable to access the data (Deny takes precedence over Allow ie. if you check both Allow and Deny, the access is denied). Normally its safer not to touch setting for Administrator group.

You can take over from here. Hope it helps.

Strange, I have applied "Hide Drives" to a computer and it worked well. I hid a partition containing Ghost Images from limited users.

I have not tried anything else.

Sorry, not out of the box. But there are utils available on the net which create a virtual drive and only if you have the password, you can access them. Use these utils as the last resort as your data depends on the level of debugging and stability of these utils.
