reinstalling windows

    tonight i was going to try to reinstall windows and i used the disk that was included with my computer (operating system cd microsoft windows xp home sp2) and when i put it in my computer to install it is asking me for a verification code. i have no idea where i would get this because its not on the envelope the cd came in...anyone have a clue on what i can do to get this to install?

    juls - Welcome to the Board :)

    If this is an OEM computer such as a Dell, HP, etc take a look on the case for a hollographic sticker which will have the Product Key that you require. Failing that look at the Windows documentation which came with the computer - it may be on a sticker on the cover.

    alright well i found what you are talking about on the bottom of my laptop and when i typed it in it said it was invalid. any other suggestions?

    I suggest you contact the manufacturer/vendor.

    Have you double checked your entry into the validation boxes?

    Out now until this evening.
