I have a strange problem and I don't if it is due to XP or not. I use three ISP's, my modem works perfectly in connecting to all three, I get the connected icon in the task tray, but my machine only actually connects to one of them.
With the other two I get the "Error 691 - Name or password incorrect" message. All the parameters for the connections are the same as I use in 98SE, but the connections block at 211 bytes received.
It seems like a protocol problem to me but does anybody have any ideas about this?

    Any advice gratefully received,

    Roger

I am no ISP guru, but have you contacted the ISP company? The protocols might be locking you out somewhere.....I would call or email the isp and give them the specs of the error. That's what I had to do :)
