I recently opened "Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel and although all my programs are listed, the "Change/Remove" buttons are not there-hence I can't unindtall anything.
I also have Advanced Uninstaller 4SE and this doesn't list any programs at all!
How can I get these buttons back??

Pete C-thanks for your prompt reply.I don't like messing with the registry but if I have to, I will. This problem didn't occur after installing Advanced Uninstaller. If I use the registry fix do I have to do it for all installed progs as none of them in the list have the buttons?

Unfortunately - yes. All the hits on the first Google page point to the URL I posted - not necessarily a solution though :(

Try the reg edit for one program and see if it works - export the registry entry before you edit it, then you can restore it easily if needs be.

    Dave,
Like you, I try to stay away from the registry. I read a good article recently that explains several backup/restore methods and a technique for identifying and reversing changes easily: http://www.theeldergeek.com/windows_xp_registry.htm

    Good luck!

Glad to hear you fixed the problem - thanks for the update :)

System Restore was the next suggestion I had in mind!

Great news Dave! I wiped-out my System Restore functionality when I had to swap hard disks and used the disk manufacturer's program to copy the entire disk to the new drive. I am now told Norton Ghost would have accomplished the swap correctly. I am glad the restore worked for you, but be careful if you ever have to swap hard disks.
