    I would like to create an "invisible" user but I can't figure out how to do it. By this, I mean a user who does NOT appear on the very first Windows XP screen which says, "To begin, click your user name." This first screen appears BEFORE the screen that says Welcome after you DO click your user name.

    I believe this can be done with TweakUI, but I can't find the option to do it. I tried "Remove User Name from Start Menu" under the Group Policy Editor, but this obviously removed the username from the START menu, NOT from the very first XP screen. I still think there must be an option to do this, but I can't find it. I would appreciate any help or direction. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Thanks for your response, Zander. I had been hoping to do this using TweakUI, not Regedit, since I have the impression that TweakUI is safer to use than Regedit. In any event, I’ve never used Regedit before so I’m not sure how to actually do steps 3 and 4 in the instructions that you gave. Here are the instructions:
    ===========================================
    3. Create the following entry:
    Username: REG_DWORD (where username is the username of the user you want to hide from the Welcome Screen).
    4. Assign a value of 0.
    ============================================

    The screen in Regedit looks something like this:
    ==================================================
    SpecialAccount Default
    UserList ASPNET
    HelpAssistant
    IUSR
    IWAM
    NetShowServices

    etc.
    ======================================================
    What do I need to do to actually create the entry mentioned in steps 3 and 4? There doesn’t seem to be anyplace to actually create the entry.

    Finally, I still would be interested in knowing whether this can be done more easily and safely with TweakUI.

    Thanks for any further comments.

    Create the user profile in windows
    Open TweakUI and go to LOGON
    UnCheck new user....

    THANK YOU, Steven R Jones, your advice was exactly what I was looking for AND it worked. As I suspected, TweakUI was considerably easier to use and more foolproof than RegEdit. Thanks again !!

    Tweakui just makes the entries for you:eek:
    But yes, much easier...
