I am a diehard netscape user...til AOL took over. The last upgrade I did was for Netscape 4.77. Will not use IE at all. It's slower then netscape. I heard about mozilla, and then I found this board. Thank God!
Downloaded and using mozilla1 rc2. Like it alot. It's my default browser now. Like the options it allows you to change, the different "faces" you can download, etc.
My question is, I understand rc3 is more stable, better to unload rc2 first (and I just downloaded all the new faces...) and then load rc3??
Thanks to this board for opening my eyes to better browsers (mozilla).

    Use Mozilla 1 (final) instead.

    Hello Swedeman,

I would suggest download Mozilla 1.0 (final), not the RC3 (release candidate 3).

The final version have more improvements then the release candidate for sure.

However, Mozilla is not designed as an end-user product, it is for programmers. They recommend you use other Mozilla based browsers for your daily browsings. We would suggest you wait for final release of Netscape 7, which is designed for customer. Of course Mozilla 1.0 is quite easy to use, if you like it, you can stay with it.

    To answer your question...
just uninstall and do a clean installation.
When uninstall, do NOT delete your profiles.

    Thanks Antony for the reply.
I'll download the Mozilla 1 version. I looked on the mozilla.org site, I assume the mozilla 1 they have there is the final version? I understand that these are for programmers, but they do work very well and I only do lite surfing. Just want a fast stable browser other the IE. Mozilla is faster then the Netscape 4.79 I was using.
This is a great site, the different posts answers questions I had and couldn't find anywhere else.

    Aloha Swedeman!

I've been using Mozilla 1.0 for almost three weeks, and I find it to be quite stable. A bit leaner than Netscape or Communicator, and the Mail & Newsgroups are an improvement over previous versions of Netscape 6.2.

Even though not intended for end users, but for developers, I'm quite impressed with its performance.

Some other Mozilla sites you might want to check out: Mozilla

    Aloha Romona

I deleted the mozilla folder in program files and then installed mozilla 1.0 (assuming its the final version one as indicated by Antony). I'm using it now as my default browser. Thanks for the URL, good info at that site.
I like the ability to change the face (prefer the "gold ", or the "lopburi flat ").
Didn't like what was happening with Netscape since AOL took over.
The programmers/developers did a very nice job with mozilla. To all of you, thanks for all your effort.
One question (very minor), how do you get the browser to use the color selection for "unvisited / visited links "?
So far it won't use my selection.

    Aloha Swedeman,
    (I never used "aloha ")
If you find Mozilla is easy enough to use, by all means go for it.

The default one is site-dependent, i.e. defined by web designer. If you really want to take full control of it, a.k.a. override the settings, then...
In Edit | Preference | Appearance | Colors then select
Use my chosen colors, ignore the color specified.
(Note, it is in Netscape 6.2.2, it might be somewhere different. I don't have Mozilla installed in this computer.)

    Swedeman,

    The location in Mozilla Preferences:

    Appearance | Colors
When a web page provides its own colors and background:
Select: "Use my chosen colors, ignoring the colors and background image specified ".

Also, on the skins for Mozilla, I wonder if you checked out SkyPilot? It is absolutely the :cool:est! You can view the skin HERE

    Enjoy!

    Aloha Antony,
Thanks for your help and suggestions in this tread. Appreciate it. I'm using mozilla 1.o (final version I think).

    Romona,
Thanks for that skin site, my theme folder is starting to be as big as my bookmark folder!!!

Internet Explorer eat your heart out. You don't even come close to mozilla.......

By having my colors override the websites, it looks weird. I'll just let the browser default to whatever. Was no big thing anyway. Besides, mozilla has so many other toys to play with!
