In windows if you want to have a preferred wireless AP you add it to the preferred WAP window. The network i have uses WPA. However there are other open WAP's in the area and for some reason the NIC will sometimes choose the other WAP's even though i already removed all of them from the preferred WAP window. Is there a way to lock which WAP to connect to? I know about the checkbox that says only connect to prefereed WAP's but that still does not solve the problem.
    Thanks

I believe Windows tries to latch on to the strongest signal - it may not be what you want. You can try to boost your signal strength by deploying various antennaes, increasing power output of your wireless point or by deploying more access points. Reorientation of access point may also help.

Barring moving or boosting the WAP signal, do you know of any hacks, or apps that can accomplish this?
    Thanks
