I'm running WinXP SP2. I wanted to rip a whole CD (Dark Side of the Moon) as a single MP3. CNET has some articles about how to do it using AudioGrabber (see http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10166_7-6280745-1.html).

Last night I downloaded and installed AudioGrabber, but when I insert my Audio CD AudioGrabber ignores it. WMP10 recognizes the CD, lists all the tracks and the title of the album correctly, and plays it just fine, but I can't find a way to make Audiograbber even see it, though it has recognized my CD player. AudioGrabber either doesn't recognize there's a CD in the tray, or it thinks it's blank, because it lists NOTHING, even when I ask it to refresh. Any ideas?

are there files on the CD, not the music file but html, jpg that type of thing. If so the audio could be hidden on the CD. Players will pick it up but sometimes Audiograbber cant seem to find the files. I haven't used Audiograbber in a long time, although there should be a way to enable it to scan the CD for audio tracks.

Sorry, I should have been more forthcoming in my original post. When Audiograbber didn't read Dark Side of the Moon, I tried other CDs. No go with any of them. So, it's not anything unique to the CD.

If you can't get that program to work you could give Audacity a try. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ To make mp3 files you will need to also download the Lame mp3 encorder.

Thanks for the advice on Audacity, it's a great program.

I fixed my AudioGrabber problem by uninstalling, rebooting, and installing again. Still don't know what caused the problem, but it's working fine now. Thanks.

Audiograbber is truly THE best all around ripping software I have come across. Better than Audacity by a country mile. Glad to see that reinstalling it fixed it, as I was going to suggest it, anyway.
