Lately, when I try to check into webpages that I have formerly sign up with and given a login name and password, when I enter such, I am told that I still have not logged in. I have tried empying my cache in both IE6 and FireFox, made sure everything was set to accept cookies, and followed other instructions, but nothing seems to work. Thankfully when I entered my login and password for this page, it went through. I'm pulling what hair I have out. Most of the login pages tell me that I must have a cookie in my browser for my login and password to work. When I check, there is one for that page. Any suggestions?????

    Hello RR36,

Are the cookies there after you sign off the internet?

Are you running a 3rd party program, like a firewall that will only accept "session" cookies only.

    Regards - Charles

    RR36--
Depending on how you are "emptying" your cache, you could be deleting your cookies. So, for sites that depend on cookies to allow your access, you will indeed have to reenter your userID and password. That could explain
That would be normal if you have deleted cookies. If you were not deleting the windows.bbs cookie, you would not have to enter that info again. But the siterecognizes the entered info even without a cookie on your PC. Without a cookie the site requires you to enter the info again. (And it then deposits a new cookie when you reenter the info.)
There also are many sites, especially sites like bank accounts, mutual funds, etc, will require that you enter this info each time, whether or not you have cookies.
Now that is a different issue. Do you mean you cannot enter these sites at all? Even after entering your userID and password?
Now I am baffled. Where are you finding those cookies? It is possible they are not the cookies needed to access the site. Many sites deposit several cookies.
Your first post implies this all is something new. Can you think of anything (like new hard/software--perhaps a firewall) that you have installed at the time the problems started?
P.S. I use System Security Suite to delete the contents of various folders (like Temporary Internet Files) without deleting Cookies. http://www.igorshpak.net/
It is very configurable to allow specific deletions without affecting others.
