    I have Windows XP SP2.

The Problem is with USB Printing. We just a got a new all-in-one from HP. We installed it on my dads laptop, that uses Window 2000. Worked fine. I am trying to install it on mine using Windows XP SP2. When I plug the USB in it gets an error. "

If I go into the Device Manager in his, under USBs, there is driver called USB Printer Support. I do not have said driver in Device Mangager.

00xj54--Do not know if any of these will apply to your all-in-one
    http://www.google.com/search?source...LD:en&q=+hp+"specified+color+profile+invalid"
but the overall suggestion is that drivers are needed.
This seems rather strange since WinXP usually has the required drivers. (And if not, the software CD that came with the All-in-One should.)
Have you gone to HP's support sites?
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHome?lc=en&cc=us&&mtxs=land-hho&mtxb=B2&mtxl=L1
    http://www.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html

Are you sure you followed the installation instructions exactly when you tried to install on the WinXP PC? With USB equipment you install the software first and do not connect the peripheral to either the PC or the power line until you are told to do so.
My HP Printer has at least two places to set color profiles. Do not know if this applies to All-in-Ones.
One is Control Panel|Printers and Faxes|Right click on All-in-One|Properties|Color Management.
    The other is
    Control Panel|Printers and Faxes|Right click on All-in-One|Properties|Printing Preferences|Color tab|Color Space.

Yes. I did everything correct with the install. When it says to plug in, I do, then that is when I get the error.

Well aparently there is driver that SHOULD be in windows called USB printing support. I heard that it was there there before SP2 was installed. Then SP2 gets rid of it.

00xj54--Try uninstalling the All-in-One and then reinstalling, remembering to install the software before connecting the AIO to either the PC or to power.
If that does not work, then
    1) contact HP as suggested
    2) hope someone more knowledgeable chimes in.

When I install my HP printer, the first screen has a way to uninstall everything that pertains to an HP printer. I go there first before installing, or it does not work correctly. I do not know if your unit has this, but if it does I suggest you do it. I also suggest you go to the HP web site, and look for the latest drivers etc. When I bought my printer new I had to do that before it would work as it was supposed to. Good luck!

    00xj54--HW=Hardware.
What skeet6961 is suggesting, I think, is a clean reinstall of Windows.
If there is an incompatibility of the Printer with your system, can you return the Printer to the store from which you bought it? Or have them try to make it work?
Somehow I do not think reinstalling Windows is going to fix the situation. But, who knows?
Two things you could try first.
    A) Look for and repair any corrupt or missing files on your present installation of WinXP
    http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
If the All-in-one is still installed, does it work now? If not, perhaps try another uninstall and reinstall. (See B) 1) below.)

    B) How did you get SP2 on your PC? Did it come with the PC, or did you update? If the latter, you could try the following
    1) Uninstall the Printer using Control Panel|Add/Remove. (Look under not only HP, but the name of the Printer--like AllInOne or whatever HP calls it.)
    2) Uninstall SP2, also from Control Panel|Add/Remove. (You cannot do this if SP2 came with the PC)
    3) Now reinstall the printer. Does it work?
    4) Reinstall SP2. Does the printer still work?

If the printer still does not work, it is up to you if you want to go through a reinstall of Windows. Note the need to back up all personal data.

Good question, since you provided several possible solutions. A word of caution for users of Windows 2000 earlier than SP4. Microsoft states that
sfc /scannow will overwrite hotfix files installed during updates. Visit the Microsoft website for the solution to this problem.
