    Hi Everyone!

I recently installed a program called Daemon Tools onto my computer. With it I accidently made a mistake and unmounted ALL my removable disk drivers so my DVD-ROM and DVD-RAM drivers are now not recognizable through 'My Computer' and under the device manager they show up with exclation marks. The computer reports that "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39).

I've tried to look on the internet on how to get the driver because I dont have the original CD, since I bought the computer like this.

Is there anything I can do besides System Restore?

    PLease help!

adding more info: I have an LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B
    and
    LG HL-DT-ST DVDROM GDR-8163B

    Try uninstalling Daemon tools.

Uninstall the drives through Device manager and reboot - the drivers are generic XP drivers which should be on your system and should be reinstalled when Windows detects the drives.

If that does not solve the problem, post back.

Is there no backup facility in Daemon Tools to undo changes?

    Tried that

    Hello!

I have since uninstalled Daemon Tools, run a virus check and even attempted to delete the hardware through device manager, which have not led to any success. I cant find the "driver" for it even on the manufacturer's, LG, website. They have the updated "firmware." When i try to intall those it cant find my drive!

I looked at the Daemon Tools help and this has not been a reported problem.

    Thanks!:)

As I posted above the drivers are generic and part of the Windows Operating System.

You have not posted your Operating System - if it is XP run System File Checker ....

Start > Run > Type in sfc /scannow > OK noting the space before the forward slash and have your XP install CD handy.

You posted as I was replying to your previous post - glad you found a solution. I assume you used the registry fix rather than the uninstall option which I had already suggested.
