Trouble connecting to the internet [one computer on home network]

    I have 4 computers on my home network. Some connect through a wireless router two are hard wired to the router. On of the computers that is hard wired cannot connect to the internet with both Internet explorer and Firefox. I ran Hardware diagnostics, no trouble found. I look at the internet conection , it is not firewalled and is exchangng data. But both explorere and firefox send bach the message psge cnnot be opened. Can anyone help?:( :( :( :( :(

    Are you getting an IP address (either from connection sharing or an address translation on the router) ?

    IPconfig should show this.

    Try to ping localhost. If it fails get a new NIC. Also if your NIC is onboard durring boot is the Act light flashing. If so the NIC is toast.

    You may want to try scanning for Adware / Spyware and viruses before replacing the network card. Some bad software can take out an internet connection.
