    Hi Everyone,

I'm an expat living in Italy and bought my new notebook here. Now the Windows XP home edition that is on it is in Italian. I thought I could quite simply change the language to English. But this seems not to be possible.
Does anyone have an idea how to change the language?

    Hi Simone,

Welcome to the BBS. Open the Control Panel and select Regional and Language Options. On the "Regional Options" tab you should be able to select "English (United States)" from the drop-down menu.

Once that's done, press the F1 key to open the "Help and Support Center ", then type "language" in the search window. The resulting topics may tell you if you need to change anything else.

    HTH.

    Arie ...

The way I read the MS page at the link you provided, MUI wouldn't work for Simone even if she did have XP Pro ... it must be installed on top of an English XP installation.

BTW, would my suggestion not work?

Oops... you are correct. I knew that

Nope, it will not "translate" the OS for you.

OK, I've never had occasion to need another language, but it "seemed" to make sense, hence the suggestion. Looks as though an English installation is her best (if not only) option.

    Dear Jim and Arie,

Thanks for your help. I guess for the time being I have to make do with the Italian version.
On the positive side; It will probably improve my Italian...;)
