I'm having this error only during a specific action - that action is transferring files to a Sony NetMD via Sony's Sonic Stage software on a USB2.0 port.

There is no support for this problem from Sony - this has been identified as a Windows related issue.

Another board helped me to this support article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314063

    Let's see...
    Win XP-SP2 Home
    Dell DIM3000
    P4 3.0G
    1 G of RAM
Fully patched, updated, vir scanned, defragged, BIOS flashed, etc. etc.

During transfer from SonicStage to the NetMD player, I get the STOP error, BSD, and memory dump.

I'm not sure if posting the error or memory dump will do any good... but:
    Mini Dump

    Error :D

I'm about at my wits end. A mini disk board has suggested an USB update might be in order, but I see no updates for Intel USB2.0 since 2002-03 - which I already have.

Any work around available if there is no cure?

    Hardware problem

    Hi,

From the stack trace of your minidump, the crash instruction is hal!KeAcquireQueuedSpinLock+0x42 and it is sign of hardware error (ie faulty ram, motherboard, PSU or overheat).
