    Hi,
We have a number of KB Log files, such as, KB834707.log in our C:\Windows Folder. The numbers look the same as the KB files that are a part of Windows Updates.

Does anyone know what these KB Log files are for? Can they be deleted?

    Thanks

Every update creates a folder...They can be deleted if you are certain that you don't need to UNinstall one of the updates.

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the reply.

I know we get a "$NtUninstallKB834707$" type folder for every Windows Update, but what is the purpose of the "KB834707.log" file. These are just files, not folders.

    Thanks

Yes you can get rid of them as well. They just "log" info of things that happened during the install of the update.

Those KB logs are pretty discouraging literature. Little that is reported is positive. They never report a "successful" installation. But my Windows Update installation history almost always shows success.

I've been saving the Windows Update Uninstall files to a CD-RW and then deleting the files from C:\Windows. I guess I'll just save the log files also.

    Thanks.
