I noticed for a while now when I open a media file it doesn't open in WMP like I had it. I went to Start, All Programs, Set Program....Defaults.

Under Choose Default media player I have a chose of Winamp or Quicktime. Under "Remove Access" it lists Windows Media player. I can manually open and play WMP but it doesn't open as default. I now see why but don't know how to fix it if I can't in "Set default Access ". How? Thank you,
    Chris.

UPDATE: Just went into the Media Player itself to the settings and made it defalut palyer. In Set Default Program player it says "Remove Access" for WMP and "enable access for Winamp and Quicktime.

See here - FAQ 1.11 - you must be logged on as Administrator to make the changes.
You may need Admin rights here too.

Which program is currently the default player?

Did you try rebooting after changing the defaults in Media Player's options?

I just tried rebooting but that didn't change anything. The default player is winamp and for others it's quicktime. Windows Media Player is still listed as, "Remove Access. "

Media type programs have a greedy nature, they all want total control.
Try the following. Go into Winamp, go into Options or Preferences. Find File Types, untick everything, push apply/OK the screen. Repeat the same steps in Quicktime. Now go into File Types in WMP,and click on Select All button, push apply/OK. Reboot computer, see what you have.
Be aware, if this works, all media is now played by WMP. Some file types may require Quicktime (.mov,.amr,.qt). If they are required, tick only them in Quicktime.

I went in and "unticked" everything in winamp and it fixed it. I would of thought if everything in WMP and Winamp where checked, WMP would win out. And to think some people complain that Microsoft programs take total control of stuff.
    Thank you all for replying,
    Chris.
