Hi everyone, My computer's clock has been losing time for awhile now. I eventually purchased and installed a new battery but that did not cure the problem. It seems like it loses time when it is on the screen saver of if the screen saver is on long enough for the system to go to "Stand By" Anyone that can explain any causes/cures? Thanks!

double click the clock in the lower right corner and set the 'automatically update time' server option.

it'll prolly still lose time during SS mode - what SS are u running? - but it should periodically update to correct time.

curious if u kill the SS entirely and don't use sleep mode - does it still lose time?

Thanks for the response. I had already set it to "Automatically syncronize with an internet time server ".

I am using the basic Windows XP "3D Flying Objects" Screensaver.

Killing the SS entirely and turning off standby is a great idea so tomorrow I will try that and see what happens. Thanks for the advice! :D

my guess would be that the machine isn't very fast or video is great on 3d so the machine chews too many cpu cyles to keep up. easy test on the 3d is to not use 3d SS ;) ... but i'd guess the video is less than stellar here if it does calm down when 3d SS is not used.

Try using Yacs - Yet Another Clock Synchroniser - updates the time each time you connect to the internet. I've used it for years - great piece of Freeware.

If you do use it turn off the Windows Time Synchronisation.
