    Hello,

I have decided to get rid of Kazaa and anything else it brought along. I have been having alot of problems with my computer and have decided to start with the problems that pop out. If anyone can give me some pointers that would be great! I might do some serious damage on my own. Thanks!

Brinic--You really should post the HJT log in the forum mentioned in that link I provided.
As mentioned, you may not get a very quick response, but it will be seen there faster than here.
I am no expert on this but I think
    04--MediaGateway is malware.
And I would be suspicious of
    016--zangocash
I have no idea what the significance of the "file missing" entries in 09 and 018 might be.
It might also help to tell us what the problems are that you are trying to solve.

P.S. SpybotS&D is good, but sometimes overlooks things that Adaware finds (and vice versa).
    AdAware Personal SE
    http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
The language is confusing, but I think this is still free. In any event, there is a free trial period so you can use it today.

Good advice so far! As suggested, download, install and update Ad-aware Personal SE

If present in Add/Remove programs, uninstall MediaGateway, Zango, Altnet and P2P Networking.

Scan again with HijackThis, place a ckeck next to the following entries and click Fix Checked.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\system32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Media Gateway] C:\Program Files\Media Gateway\MediaGateway.exe
    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
    O16 - DPF: {1D6711C8-7154-40BB-8380-3DEA45B69CBF} -
    O16 - DPF: {8FCDF9D9-A28B-480F-8C3D-581F119A8AB8} - http://static.zangocash.com/cab/180s.../bridge-c9.cab

Reboot and delete the folder C:\Windows\system32\p2p networking
If present, also delete the Media Gateway, Zango, Kazaa and Alnet folders in C:\Program Files.
Open My Computer and right click Local Disk C:, select properties, then Disk Cleanup. Check all boxes and click OK.
When complete, do a full system Scan with Ad-aware, removing all it finds.

Reboot and create a new HijackThis log and post it's contents. Let us know if you're having any problems.

    The new Hijack file

I have done everything you suggested to do including the adaware scan. The reason I wanted to get rid of Kazaa was because when it was running in the background it effected the sound. I thought the speakers were on the outs but I soon discovered it was also headphones. I then panicked thinking it was my soundcard but I have since come to notice that if Kazaa is running the sound acts up. One speaker cuts out then the other and eventually both but as soon as you close kazaa VOILA the sound appears. Funny thing I thought!
Thank you so much for your help it may have saved me from foolishly replacing a sound card. You guys are Brilliant!

Your log looks fine. Are you having any more problems? If so, you might want to check with your sound card manufacturer for updated drivers.

The following entry in HJT indicates you had a program freeze/error or a blue screen. Did this happen?

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

It sets the registry to create a dump file with information about the error and generally is gone upon reboot. Fix that entry.

    Thanks for the help!

The sound now seems to be working fine on the computer. I updated the drivers a couple of weeks ago without any result but the moment all of Kazaa was off the computer the problem ceased to exist. I must sound very strange to you but it really has fixed the problem!

I fixed that one error in the HJT Log but no I can't think of anytime that error happened. The strange things computers do.

Thank-you again for all your help
    Jennifer
