Ok...this is the wierdest thing I've seen.

I'm on my brother's laptop, and he's new to major computer usage. He got a ton of spyware, most of which I cleaned out

However, his desktop changed into a black screen saying you need to get a spyware remover program, etc. I know not to click it and stuff, but it's on the desktop

When I try to right click>Properties, this comes up

    http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/4476/desktop5qi.jpg

If someone could help me with this, it's appreciated. I think HiJack this would kill it, I just am not sure how to 100% sure how to use it

Thanks in advance, and sorry if I put it in the wrong forum

    noahd,

I used your tool and it got rid of that black screen with the ad but when I restarted my computer the screen is white and the ad is still there. I have two monitors and on the primary when you right click and go to properties the address is still file://C:\WINDOWS\warnhp.html. When I change the background my 2nd monitor changes fine but the primary still is white.

Nevermind. Just as I finished posting this I went into the background properties, background tab, customize desktop, web, and deleted the Uninstall address entry. Thats just in case anyone else has the same problem I had.

    Thanks noahd.

I recently ran your repair software and upon restart I was greeted with a plain white screen. The properties still show the same address as file://c:\windows\warnhp.html but he screen is blank white and no ad is showing. How do I get rid of this screen.

    Thanks for your help,

Sorry, should have read above post.

    Thanks,

Go to your desktop and right click. Select properties, click the desktop tab, click customize desktop near the bottom, select the web tab. In the box "Web pages:" see if that warnhp address is there. If it is select it and delete it. That should fix your problem.

Go to the Control Panel>Appearance and Themes>Display
Click the Desktop tab>Customize Desktop button>Web tab
Remove the warnhp.html entry and OK your way out.

Delete the warnhp.html file from C:\Windows if present.

    Kitty,

    Did you try this:

I went into the background properties, background tab, customize desktop, web, and deleted the Uninstall address entry. Thats just in case anyone else has the same problem I had.

I am having troubles with my computer and I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a blank white screen and when I right click on the desktop I get all these unusual options instead of the normal ones. When I click on the Properties option there is only one tab that says General and the Address (URL) reads: file://C:\WINDOWS\warnhp.html.

I'm running Windows ME on my computer.

I went into Control Panel > Display but on my background tab I don't have Customize Desktop.

Can anyone help me??? I would really appreciate it! :)

    Hi Sarah,

I believe what you're looking for on ME is to remove the check by "View my Active desktop as a web page ".
Click OK then Apply and OK.

i have removed the virus manually from my C folder, and downloaded the remover tool and ran it. the virus seems to be gone, but the screen is blank white. i have tried to remove the webpage from the desktop/web tab, but the web address is not in the web tab to be removed.
