open with, always use is messed up never remembers the program..

the only way i can get xp to remember what programs to open some file types is to set it manualy under folder options, file types.
i have tried to delete and recreate the file type still little luck..

its seems to be mainly media files avi,mp3,mpg ect...
i was hoping to just use open with, choose program, check always use...

 

check u'r media players settings. they tend to 'take over' all file types designated in EACH program's settings. eg - UNset them in every player EXCEPT the one u WANT to use to open that file type.

this is an old issue that seems to be returning. answer to me = pick ONE media player and kill the rest ... nero ultra is the one i've run into. i just choose to NOT install it's media player.

 

I don't use this, but have seen it recommended on other boards.
