I am the main administrator for my PC & decided to give the wife her own login & so her own environment. I created an admin account & all was fine switching between accounts until the computer was restarted, only her login was visible on the welcome screen. The only way I could get the PC back was to do a system restore. I then looked at user accounts to see if it was something I did & noticed that it say's (the administrator account is only visible on the welcome screen when no other user accounts exist (except the guest account), or when you start the computer in safe made) & seeing as I used the main account instead of creating a new admin account when I recently completed a format & fresh install & also made all my files & folders private.

My question is, is there any way to create a new account & still keep mine visible on the welcome screen or will I have to reformat in order to have 2 accounts?

PS I did do a search to see if the same question has been asked but did not find anything similar.

    TIA

    Elv

The title to this is a little misleading, but will do the trick:

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151/en-us

You'll basicaly want to create a new profile for yorself so that you aren't using the built in system admin account.

Another way you can do it to download TweakUI and use it to unhide the account. Under logon, look in the right pane for "show administrator on logon screen.

That said, it would probably be better to use an account of your own and keep the system one for emergency purposes. You can make the call on that though. :)

I'll try that Zander, thanks. I tried what Steve suggested but It kept saying unable to copy due to being write protected or something like that.

    Thanks for both suggestions..:)
