I notice that when I scroll on a page with Firefox, the minimum number of lines when turning the scroll wheel is 4. (This is if I leave "Smooth Scrolling" in Advanced Options unchecked; otherwise it's 8 lines per scroll.) If I press Alt and scroll, I can scroll one line at a time. Is there anyway to reverse this? I prefer scrolling one line at a time and not having to press Alt.

I remember that in Netscape 7.2, I could adjust the number of lines per scroll wheel turn. Is there any way of doing this in Firefox?

I'm using FF 1.5.01 and don't experience the symptoms you describe. With auto-scrolling, smooth scrolling on or off, I can scroll one line or more, however I wish. Maybe i don't understand what you're describing.

You not you have vers. 1.5. Maybe you need to upgrade?

    xelaw,

There is no setting like the one in Netscape 7.2, in Firefox. If your mouse has software, is it possible to set the number of lines to scroll there?

Ramona, thanks. I hadn't thought of using Control Panel>Mouse to set the scroll distance, but when I adjusted it to one line per notch of the scroll wheel, it worked just fine.

Then I found a Firefox extension called "SmoothWheel" which does exactly what I wanted. Now I can scroll at one line per notch, and with Alt-Scroll, it will scroll at about 8 lines per notch.

GPaDavis, I probably wasn't clear enough. I have FF 1.5. The problem wasn't how many lines total I could scroll, but the scroll resolution - how many lines a turn of one notch of the scroll wheel would move the screen.
