updates were unable to be successfully installed

I have win-2000, and i have'nt been able to do automatic updates the past several days.

tryed
1. reregister dll files
2. delete files out of windows update folder

also in internet explorer I can "nt enter anything in the Search option line

I read i MAY HAVE A VIRUS>>>CALLED PANDA VIRUS, but I can'nt find a web site to run the panda virus scan, and if I need to insert anything on any line on any web site, my problem is not letting me key in anything.

i deleted the>> filesnottobackup key out of the registry
