    All,

I have a weird thing going on in Windows XP Pro.

On the screen there is an icon shown of a green gulf. There is no program installed that has that icon, and when you click on it nothing happens, as it is not an link to a program.

When the desktop icons are hidden, this icon is still visible.

It is also not touched on re-arranging the icons, it always stays on the right hand upper side of the screen.

When the computer shuts down, and just before the backround picture is removed, the icon dissapears. Also on start up the icon isn't there and it appears just after loading the background.

I'm sure it is not in the desktop registry settings but I an unable to determine where it is comming from.

I scanned the computer for a virus several times and nothing pops up.

It also seems to be related to 1 user, the others using this computer do not have this icon.

Does any of you have an idea where the icon picture comes from?

What happens if you click on it with the right mouse button?

If it only occurs with one user, look in your startup folder in the start menu and see if there's anything in there that's not in the other users startup folder. If nothing turns up there, click start>run and type msconfig. Click the startup tab and see what's all listed there. Then log on as the other user, run msconfig and compare what's on the startup tab with what was on yours. Also, take note if any have a checkmark in front of them in yours but not in the other users.

If yours has anything in the list on the startup tab that the other user doesn't, log back onto yours and uncheck the one(s) that the other user didn't have. Then, either reboot or log off and back on and see if it's gone.
