I am missing the function, "copy to cd" from "My Pictures" in Win XP. I may have removed a program from my computer that performs this function. When I try and copy, I get a msg. saying the cd must be re-formatted, so it goes thru the process and then copy's the photos to cd, in a jpeg format. They show up when I go to my D drive and look; however, I take the cd to walmart to copy and it is blank.
    Any suggestions??

From this it sounds like you're burning them in UDF format (InCD, Direct CD, Drag and Drop, .etc. ) . If so, this would most likely be the problem. It's highly unlikely Walmart's equipment would have the necessary driver to be able to read the CD. What burning software do you have? Open the program and burn them from there. If you're prompted to format the CD, then you're not doing it right. Use a blank, unformatted CD. If you're using a CDRW, erase it first. Your burning program should have an erase feature.

Sorry I can't be much more specific. Would need to know what kind of software you have to be able to give more details. I use Roxio some but mostly CDBurnerXP Pro and don't know a lot about Nero. I'm sure there's somebody here who could help with that though.

the problem is with "my pictures "

Thanks for the reply Zander :)
Not that I'm using my cd burning software to burn cds. I'm only trying to get photos from "my pictures" to a cd for printing. There used to be an option for "copy to cd" on the left of my pictures folder menu. I could click on it and zip....copy them to cd. This is no longer the case. I get a msg. saying to reformat the cd if I want to use it (the only way I can copy). Where did the "copy to cd" go from my pictures menu??
    Thanks!

LOL, that was my thought on this and I was checking it out last night to see if I could reproduce it and in the process got a nasty blue screen. I right clicked on the drive and chose properties and that was the end of my computing for the night. :D Bad_Pool_Header

I messed with it for a couple hours trying to get it running again (crashed everytime when it got to the desktop). Could get to safe mode though. After a couple hours of trying to get it to run I finally did what I'd tell anybody else to do in this case. Unchecked everthing on the startup tab in Msconfig. That got me in. It turned out to be DirectCD that was causing it. Guess I should learn to take my own advice.:D

Anyway, sorry I didn't get back sooner Lindylou. It was late when I got done and I'd had enough computing for the night. :)

    got it fixed

    Thank you Pete!
That bit of advice got it fixed for me and I was able to 'copy to cd' and get it copied without formatting my cd and messing things up. Can't imagine how these things happen. Now I can go to walmart and print on their machines.
    Thanks again!
