My LPT1 port has stopped communicating for some reason. I can no longer print from it... the "data" light on my printer turns on and the printer just freezes. I have tried a new cable, and still no luck. I have also hooked up another device to the LPT1 port and am not able to talk to it either. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, and still no luck! The think was just working fine a couple of days ago? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

Just the driver or the port too? In Device Manager uninstall the port and reboot to allow Windows to install it again.

Does Device Manager 'claim' that the port is working correctly - if it does this is not necessarily true :)

    Agree! :D

Also, look for updated motherboard/chipset drivers at the motherboard manufacturer's website. These may update/reset the LPT drivers.

Go into BIOS & set the Printer Port (LPT1) to Standard. Reboot. Windows should find the new hardware & install the drivers.
