Songs using Media Player 10/Real Player sound different

Hello all. My neighbor ripped a cd using Media Player awhile back. Since then, (he thinks), Media Player has been playing all songs at a different pitch or voice. It almost sounds like kids singing the songs. He has tried other songs and they all sound similar. I had him try upgrading to Media Player 10 and installing Real Player with no success.

I had him check the hardware acceleration under "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel and had him check the settings in Media Player with no success at that either.

I also had him check Windows Updates and found nothing for a sound driver.


Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

 

He has most probably increased the playing speed.

Goto View->Enhancements->Play Speed Settings. Set Play Speed to 1.0.

Sorry I didn't mention it above but I had him check that also. I wish it was that simple!

 

What codec(s) is he using?

 

That's a good question, I am not too familiar with codecs. Where could I check? I am going over tomorrow to check. Any suggestions where I could download the latest?

Just see if he has installed any new codecs from the net or any program which installs them (like k-lite codec pack).
