    I downloaded a program that was a wise install program. I tried installing it and figured out that it won't install because the folder name that it is pre set to go in, has a : in it. Is ther a way to change this or am I out of luck. I hope you can answer my question but if you can't can you refer someone who can. Thanx in advance.

    The install doesn't have a custom option to allow you to change the folder?

    Also, what do you mean when you say it has a colon in it? Like, in the middle of the name??

    c:\Program Files\New : Program

    To be more clear.
    When it starts installing it gives a message that .....unwise.exe could not be installed because the file name is not clear.This by the way is the first file it tries to install. Anyway, when i try to create the file specified, it ask that the file nam include a colon whinc obviously is not allowed in windows 98. Help please

    Have you made sure that nothing is running in the background with exceptions of systray and explorer???

    Many applications run into this problem when not using proper install protocal, ie; "No background running applications. that will interfer with the install ".

    ========
    Is this a top secret program, or can you share the "title "? Perhaps there is a known bug or version compatibility issue or fix, specifically for it.

    The program is an installer for a desktop theme. All i really need are the items in the zip file which opens after the uninstall program is opened, but I can't find a way to get to the zip file without running the executable. And when I do that it tries to install the uninstall program, which like I said before, in a folder that the program creates itself, though the folder it creates has a colon so it can't be created which is why I think I get the message that the specified path is incorrect.

    If you post the URL for the download, I'm sure that somebody will take a look at it :)

    Winzip may be able to extract the files for you, it can open setup executables without running them.
