I've backed up my e-mail files and want to transfer them to a new computer. When I try to copy the file to a CD, I get the Access is Denied the file may be in use or write protected Error message. How do I fix this dadgummed sumbitch so it'll allow me to transfer all these old e-mails? Thanks

Make sure you do not have your email program running when you copy the files. Also you can check the properties of the email files and uncheck the Read Only box if it is checked.

Are these .eml files from Outlook or Outlook Express?
I find it a little peculiar that you can't copy the files when they are in use tho.
Moving them will not be possible unless the email program is shut down.

    Hope this helps Elgin

The files are Outlook Express, and I'll shut it down when I try again. Thanks.

The files are from outlook express, and I'll be sure to shut down the e-mail before I try to copy again. I'll try it tomorrow and post a result. Thanks for your suggestion
