After a break up i kept the pc but the problem is that it was registered in his name. I have tried to change it over but it tells me that it is a systems folder and can not be renamed.... Any ideas?

Hi cluelesschick (lol, nice handle :) ). Welcome to the board.

Where is the name you're trying to get rid of? If it's a username for an account go to control panel>user accounts>change an account. Then click on the user you want to change and then click change my name. That should change the logon name, username in windows explorer, etc.

If that's not what you're after, post back and give a description of where you see the name that you want to get rid of.

i u want to change the user folder name as well, u should use the file & settings backup wiz in system tools. u can run that, choose 'old computer' and save the files to a local drive. then create new user as u see fit and reverse the process. eg - run F&S wiz and choose 'new computer' and then point to the files u saved on the first go round.

and if u'r not concerned about settings like mail account etc. then u can just copy the files u want from the old profile to any folder or 'shared docs' temporarily then create new user as u see fit and copy the files to that user's mydocs. once happy, kill the old user - methophorically speaking that is ;)

    changing registered name

Zander... Yes what you have explained i have done prior but its when i save anything it comes under eg: C:mydocuments/HIS NAME/file. I tried skeet6961 suggestion but i dont understand the instructions and in system tools i have F&S transfer wizard. As my handle says cluelesschick.
Thankyou both but i have not a real clue on the pc:eek:
