It should be possible to create an outgoing message in OE6 and, if such a thing appeals, select a different font\size\color for every line of the email.

I can't. Mine's locked up and will only set the overall font at whatever's set in the main configuration, currently Arial. This is no BFD in itself, but recipients see my emails as set in Times New Roman, regardless of the fact that my settings are for Arial.

(Except that if the recipient cuts and pastes my email into their Word prog, it reveals that the font is indeed Arial. Weird or what?)

Anyone had this prob and fixed it? To save folks here wasting their time, I should say that I'm a tech, and I doubt I've missed any of the usual fixes, including reinstalling OE6. But nothing has worked.

    Suggestions would be appreciated.

When you "create" a new message, click on Format. If it's set to plain text, change it to Rich Text (HTML).

Thanks, Steve - I wish it was that simple. I always have OE set on RTF.

masonite--In OE changing the font for each line or each word (or even letter)should be fairly simple. In a (Create) New Message window, highlight whatever text you want to change, and using the toolbar which should appear just under the word Subject, change font, size, bold, underline, color, etc. with the tools that should be available.
You say your OE is "locked up ". Please elaborate if the above suggestion does not help.
What version of OE are you using?

Thanks, Welshjim. Yes, I'm aware of how OE should behave (OE6). I'm just saying that it isn't possible (or wasn't, LOL) in my OE client.

However, I'm pleased to report that I can now amend that statement, as I've solved the problem.

The background to this mess was that I'd decided I was missing a few useful fonts for Photoshop, so I imported a few more into my Windows font folder from a fonts collection I'd kept from an earlier Windows installation.

There wasn't a lot of them - maybe 200 in all - but there were a lot of Arial and Times New Roman variants, like Arial Special G1 and Times New Roman Special Bold G2 etc. (Gawd knows what they actually do)

Shortly after that I noticed that webpages, whether in IE, Firefox or Opera, were displaying my basic arial font in italicized format, but I didn't make the connection between the change and the fact that I'd added extra fonts to what was originally only a small fonts collection and which still didn't exceed 400. (If I'd deleted fonts it might have made more sense).

Finally, after a lot of fooling around, I dumped the extra fonts and everything went back to normal. Everything that is, except my Outlook Express, which had lost the ability to change outgoing message fonts in midstream.

Until I went into Internet Explorer and undid one of my panicky fiddles - I went into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Acessibility button and unchecked 'Ignore Font Styles Specified on Webpages'. Voiler, as they say. My OE fonts situation is now completely back to normal.

    Thanks for all contributions.
