Hi ... In outlook express 6.0 which is the best way to remove many emails in the inbox ? Like for instead I have around 200 emails and some I would like to keep but most I rather delete , Is there a way to find the folder that keeps the emails stored and remove them from there ? Or whatever suggestion is best ? Thanks

The only way you can do it is in OE. You can however delete more than one at a time. While pressing and holding the ctrl key, click on the emails you want to delete. If you do this you can select as many as you want and then press the delete key on the keyboard or click on delete in OE's toolbar.

If you press and hold the shift key while clicking on an email header and then (while still holding the shift key) scroll down the list and click on another one, you'll highlight all of them from the first one you clicked on to the last one. If you wanted you could delete the whole works with just a couple clicks this way.

So, if some of them you want to get rid of are grouped together, use the shift key to get them all at once. If there happens to be one in a group you want to keep, highlight them all and then press and hold the ctrl key to deselect the one that's amongst them.

Play with it a bit and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

Hi .. Okay I try to use both options , first with the shift key and this didn't do anything , also with the ctrl key as well , Is there a setting to make these options to work ? What I try was I would select the first email while holding down the shift and then drag my mouse down to select more emails but it doesn't work , Can you explain a bit more in how it works , Thanks

There is no setting to make it do this. It's just a part of windows. For example, you can do it to select multiple files in windows explorer too.

You don't want to drag the mouse down though. Do this. Without holding down the shift key click on one of the email headers and release the mouse button. Then scroll down the list a ways, press the shift key, and then click on another email. It should highlight them all from the first one you clicked on to the last.

For the ctrl key, click on one of the headers so it's highlighted and release the mouse button, press the ctrl key and then go down the list and click once on each of those you want to delete. When you use the ctrl key it'll only select those that you click on. Nothing in between.

Hope I've explained it good enough. If it doesnt work for you, post back and I'll have another go at it. :D

If the situation is that you have very few emails you want to save, then I would move those to a created folder. What's left in the inbox goes.

Another thing you can do if there's just a few you want to save is highlight all of them using the shift key, then press and hold down the ctrl key and click on the ones you want to save. Those that you click on while holding the ctrl key will be de-selected. Once you've clicked on all of those you want to keep, click delete. The highlighted ones will go and those that you de-selected will stay.
