I`m running XP home SP2 that I installed with an OEM disk purchased from new Egg. It`s operating on Drive 1 on a 10 GB hard drive. Everything else is on a 60 GB hard drive divided into 3 NTFS? partitions of approximately 20 GB each.
I want to install XP on a new, larger hard drive. What pitfalls are ahead?
    Will MS approve?
Are there any step by step instructions available?
Does XP itself have any help?
I don`t absolutely have to do this but the C drive just keeps getting a little shorter on unused space. I run maintenance every week, clean up, defragment, delete temp files, etc. I`ve still got approx 2.5 GB open but don`t want to get in a position where I Have to change it out. Any input is appreciated!

    Moore,

You can continue using your 10 GB HDD for Windows OS and other hard disk for storing your data. This allows you to keep your data safe and luxury of reloading WinXP without touching your data.

If you are running low on C:, you can move your 'My Documents' folder to some other partition. Also create a 'Temp' folder on other partition and set WinXP to use this folder as temp. This could free up a lot of space.

If you want to upgrade to a new hard disk, there are no gotchas or pitfalls. But I would recommend that you create at least 2 partitions - one for OS and other for data. MS does not have any issue with it if you are not changing much of your computer at one go - you would have to reactivate.

    rsinfo,
Thanks for the reply. I`m using the 3 partitions on the second hard drive for data, music, and media, in that order. The only thing on the C drive is Windows,(1.42 GB), Docs, and settings,(2.37 GB), program files,(1.2 GB) etc. I`ve moved every thing that I think is feasible to one or the other of D,E,or F, drive.
I`ll run like this for a while . I`m reassured by the fact that there are no problems with MS. I`ve read that reactivation is a painless process (almost!).
    Thanks Again.
